The journal Bioinvasiones is dedicated to publishing scientific research findings, technical results, field-based management experiences, examples of management practices, and policy analyses related to invasive alien species and biological invasions in Latin America and the Caribbean. The journal includes, among other contributions, reports of new introductions, recent invasions, and experiences related to early detection and rapid response across different types of ecosystems in the region. A central focus of Bioinvasiones is to promote contributions aimed at the prevention, control, management, and governance of biological invasions, including the development and analysis of policies relevant to the region.

Bioinvasiones is envisioned as the successor to the Boletín de la Red Latinoamericana para el Estudio de Especies Invasoras, with the mission of strengthening regional engagement among scientists, managers, and decision-makers dedicated to the study, management, and control of invasive alien species and biological invasions. The journal seeks to promote high-quality research in this field, facilitate the dissemination of information, data, and scientific advances, and provide a platform for communicating working group activities, event announcements, scientific publications, and other initiatives relevant to the regional community.

In addition to receiving original articles, reviews, and other types of contributions, the journal invites proposals for special issues derived from relevant topics, symposia, workshops, courses, and working groups. Through this, Bioinvasiones seeks to bring together contributions from a broad community of researchers, professionals, managers, and stakeholders involved in the management, control, and research of invasive alien species and biological invasions in Latin America and the Caribbean, fostering the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and strategies to address the challenges posed by these species at both regional and global scales.
